Study English and Work ProgramsStudy and Work Programs offer an excellent opportunity to study English and gain valuable work experience in Canada. There are 3 options available: Internship (paid/unpaid), Farmstay/Ranchstay and Volunteer work. All three types of programs consist of two components: studying at inlingua Vancouver first and then participating in the placement. We will help you find a rewarding work experience where you will have the opportunity to speak English with Canadians in a real environment.Internship — unpaid or paid professional work for professional executives or university students at Canadian companies in an area of related experience or study. This program may also be used to gain more experience in an area in which they would like to gain more experience. inlingua Vancouver offers this program in partnership with WISH Vancouver. Volunteer — unpaid work for non-profit organizations or special events in which the student helps with any task that is required. Farm Stay — unpaid work at a Canadian farm helping the farmers in their daily work (cattle, crops, etc) or with the household chores. Internship ProgramThe internship program at inlingua Vancouver (offered in partnership with WISH Vancouver) is an exciting opportunity for you to apply your classroom knowledge to a practical work environment. Students gain valuable work experience in their chosen field as well as an opportunity to practice English and learn about Canadian business culture. This program requires a minimum of two months of English lessons at inlingua Vancouver with our conversational method and our Business English Program. To ensure successful placements, we try to find the best match for both the student and the employer. To do this, we evaluate the student's skills, training, experience, and personal interests before the placement. This ensures the highest level of satisfaction for the student. What kind of job can I do?Unpaid internships are available at over 400 Canadian companies. Through WISH Vancouver, we also offer paid internships in three job fields: business administration, hospitality and information technology. Other types of positions may also be available, depending on market conditions and the experience of the student. Some of these positions do not require previous training or experience. Students can not work part-time while they study. The internship component will follow the study component. Maximum hours per week is 40, and minimum is 30 hours per week. Students may request to work less than 30 hours. Volunteer ProgramVolunteering is a great way to contribute to the local community and gain hands-on experience. This program requires minimum a month of lessons at inlingua Vancouver with our exclusive conversational method. You will have the opportunity to be involved in community projects, spend time with Canadians and put your English skills into practice. Various types of projects include sports events, cultural events, hospitals, campaigns, associations, non profit organizations, non government organizations, environment protection groups and much more. Volunteer experience is not considered work as long as it makes integral part of an Academic Program. In Canada it is illegal for students or tourists to work without a work visa. For all immigration purposes, Internship is not considered work but a component of a Language Program. Students receive a Certificate and a Letter of Recommendation after finishing their Volunteer Program. FarmStay/Ranchstay ProgramFarmstay and ranchstay programs can provide you with a friendly and comfortable environment where you can learn more about Canadian culture and the English language. You will have the opportunity to make new friendships by living and working on a Canadian farm in British Columbia. The program includes accommodation. This program requires minimum a month of lessons at inlingua Vancouver with our exclusive conversational method, in addition to the actual Farmstay/Ranchstay program. This program takes place in British Colombia, from the majestic Rocky Mountains to Vancouver Island. Participants must be willing to collaborate a maximum of 5 hours per day, 5 days per week. Often visitors extend their work time to enjoy different farm activities. Host families provide a room and food and a welcoming environment to participants.
